Thelma Wynne Project

Christ is Risen!

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of a collection project Holy Cross Mission is undertaking for the month of May in conjunction with Mother’s Day.

Holy Cross Mission is collecting baby layette items for the Thelma Wynne Project. The Thelma Wynne Project has been in existence in one way or another for over 50 years. For much of that time it has been located within St. Matthew’s church building. Dedicated women from Anglican churches in the city make or collect items and then prepare layettes for newborns. The layettes are distributed through social agencies in the city to new mothers who need them. The project has evolved somewhat over the years but originally was started by Thelma Wynne after whom it is named.

There are those new mother’s that do not have the proper items for their newborn infants. Items needed (new): Diapers, blankets, sleepers, caps, booties, baby soap, lotions, etc.

If your parish youth are looking for a project to work on, please consider participating in this endeavor Holy Cross is undertaking. If your women’s organization, sisterhood, brotherhood would like to participate, please have them do so. If you are not able to participate, we humbly ask for your prayers.

Holy Cross will be collecting items for the month of May, with May 30th being the last day of collecting. Items may be dropped off at Holy Cross Mission located in St. Andrew’s College on the University of Manitoba Campus.

If you need the items picked up, please contact Fr. Evan Maximiuk at 474-2812 or Sylvia Kitzul at 256-8370.

Thank you in advance for your any assistance you may provide. May the joy of the Risen Lord be with you always.

In Christ,

Fr. Evan Maximiuk
