Holy Cross Mission parish was formed by a group of people studying Orthodox Christianity through study groups offered through the department of Missions and Education of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada.
Holy Cross Mission Parish has dedicated our community to the “Holy Cross” because this is a Christian symbol with which all people can identify — expressing our philosophy of making our parish accessible to a wider community.
Some of our parishioners are Orthodox Christians of third and fourth generation Ukrainian descent. Others come from other Orthodox ethnic backgrounds. Some are converts to Orthodoxy, while others are non-Orthodox who are interested in the Orthodox Faith. Together, we make a welcoming and dynamic parish family.
Our commitment is to make the light of the Orthodox Faith shine in the lives of people of our time, as it has in the hearts of countless men and women throughout the centuries.
Our Long-range Goals
To offer full-time ministry to our members, seekers and supporters.
To have our own house of worship, located in the south end of the city of Winnipeg.
To continue to offer accessible, relevant and time-honoured proclamation of the Holy Orthodox Faith to all men, women and children who walk through our doors.
The spiritual growth and salvation of our members, seekers and supporters is our first priority.
We are currently worshipping at… St. Andrew’s College Chapel 29 Dysart Rd. (U of M Campus) VISITORS ALWAYS WELCOME!
What we Believe
The Nicene – Constantinopolitan Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible;
And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all ages, Light of Light, True God of True God, Begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man;
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures;
And ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father;
And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, Whose kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke by the Prophets;
In One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the Life of the age to come. Amen.
